A hazard tree is any tree that poses a risk to you, your neighbors, or your property. This can be to a variety of reasons such as dead or dying trees, sick trees, broken branches in the canopy, and trees with a strong lean. Our goal is to make the area safe by either removing any safety concerns and making the tree healthy again or when necessary, remove the entire tree. We are always happy to give our expert opinion.

The high desert of Central Oregon is what is known to be a fire adapted landscape. For thousands of years, fire has been used either intentionally or naturally to keep the land healthy. In recent history, wildfires have not been able to do what they need to because of communities on the landscape and high fuel loads leading to catastrophic wildfires. You are able to protect your home and property with a good “defensible space”. We are more than happy to come and evaluate your fire risk.

We see trees as a valuable resource, there are many reasons to want to limb trees up such as: improving defensible space, preventing property damage, increasing tree health, removing ladder fuels, increasing sunlight.

Defensible space makes it easier for firefighters to protect your home from a fire. Some of these concepts include removing ladder fuels to stop the fire from getting into the canopy, keeping your gutters clean of debris, not having firewood stacked next to structures. You can learn more at the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s website.

We have a variety of tools in our toolbox to get this done safely and efficiently. Some ways we can remove your trees are by climbing up them and removing them piece by piece. This is best in spaces with not a lot of area to work, but it takes more time. We can also cut the tree at its base and guide it to fall in a safe direction. This is usually a lot quicker but requires an area big enough for the tree to land.

We work in all of Deschutes County and the surrounding areas.

Ladder fuels are usually the limbs of a tree that are touching or close to the ground that let a fire go from the ground to the canopy. In the high desert junipers will often completely go up in flames “torching” this will throw embers all over the place leading to spot fires. We can easily reduce your risk of wildfire and give our opinion on how to keep your risk low.

We can pile the branches and cut it up to be left for firewood. We can also haul it off and it is made into mulch and used as firewood. Nothing is wasted!
